The Motability Scheme is giving people across the country the option to exchange their mobility allowance payments for the lease of a new car, powered wheelchair or scooter. If you receive any of the following disability benefits, and you have at least 12 months award remaining, then you may be eligible to join the Motability Scheme.
The eligible benefits include:
● Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)
● Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
● War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
● Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
Even if you don’t drive you can still be a part of the scheme. The Motability Scheme allows for you to nominate up to two named drivers, who can drive your Motability vehicle on your behalf. This also means that if a child aged three years old or above is receiving HRMC DLA, then a parent or guardian can join the scheme on behalf of the child.
